THE FINISHED FIREPLACE

Hello! I've got 3 blog posts lined up this weekend, starting with the before & after reveal of the fireplace I've been working on in the bedroom. This project wasn't planned from the start, but added to the list after we pulled out the old fireplace and discovered the shape of the brickwork underneath. We were originally planning on just removing the old fireplace and covering it over to add some wall space. But we loved the shape of the original fireplace underneath and decided we couldn't just cover it up. BUT of course, the house is 130 years old and those bricks were pretty damaged and crumbling in places, so just leaving it as it was wasn't an option. So we opted for some grey brick slips to cover it over, keeping to the original shape that we loved so much (you can read more about that stressful process in my last post!)

Here's the full project from start to finish....

Its definitely not perfect, but we love how its turned out (and are mainly just glad its all over!!)

We had plans to do the same downstairs in both the dining room and the lounge... but after the lengthy process of this one (and the costs!) we're now thinking we might have to come up with an alternative! I'll let you know when we figure it out!
